Nutritional Deficiencies of Auto Immune Disease
Folic acid and B12: nutritionally in Brewers Yeast, Tuna Salmon, and Seaweeds. Supplemented at dosages of 1000mcg. per day with meals. Vitamin C: nutritionally in leafy greens, citrus fruits and berries. Supplemented at 3-5gms in divided doses with food. (loose stools means too much. Combines with Vit. E, selenium and glutathione for antioxidant support and to reduced inflammation. Magnesium nutritionally in soy, and whole grains. Supplemented (as aspartate, gluconate or malate forms) at 200-600mg per day with food for muscle relaxation, decreased fatigue and muscle tenderness. Essential Fatty Acids: especially Omega -3 nutritionally found highest I flax oil, Cod liver oil, provides for decreased inflammation and pain when combined with a low fat and cholesterol diet. Supplementation 1Tbs. Flax or cod liver oil twice daily with food. DHEA: a precursor to adrenal hormones such as cortisol, the body's natural anti-inflammatory drug. Supplementation is indicated only with a deficiency confirmed by blood test results. Bromelain: Nutritionally found highest in pineapple. Supplementation has shown to decrease the protein substances associated with inflammation. Dosage 400-600mg. Three times daily between meals. L-Tryptophan: (The sleepy stuff in turkey). Supplementation has shown a decrease in pain improved sleep, and decreased anxiety in auto immune patients. Dosage 100mg three times per day CoQ10: A popular antioxidant for heart conditions, also increased exercise tolerance and reduced overall symptoms in chronic fatique syndrome. Dosage 100mg per day with food.
All the above nutritional factors are beneficial specifically when a deficiency exists and may be helpful in combination at low dosage.
